Pooh Pooh Pillows GIVEAWAY {now closed}

Pooh Pooh Pillows Giveaway_thumb

Exciting thing! Let me back up… this might come as a surprise, but I’m not one to accessorize. I hardly EVER wear jewelry (other than my wedding ring). I can’t decide if it’s because I’m a plain kinda girl, or just lazy. But that doesn’t matter. The point here is that this has carried over into my home decorating. In the past few months, I’ve decided to make a conscious effort to incorporate more plants and throw pillows into my life. So when my friend Wendy sent me one of her GORGEOUS throw pillows just out of the blue, I did a little … [Read more...]

The sisters are growing and changing sooooo fast. There are scores of new words everyday, and they’re learning how things open and close, or turn on and off. They love each other so much, and are always eager to help one another or bring an item that the other one wants. When we’re in a store, they want to walk instead of sitting in the cart, and are constantly finding ways to demonstrate their independence. (Happy Independence Day?). They are turning two on Monday… what the WHAT? My my how time flies. To scroll back through their monthly … [Read more...]

This is the first time ever that I’m late on the girls’ monthly OR weekly pictures. First time for everything… right? Did I make up for it with our giveaway on Friday? And speaking OF… the big winner’s name is Emily Pennington!! Check your inbox! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ People are floored that our girls still share a crib at night. There seems to be plenty of room still, and with the occasional incident (body-slamming, standing on each other, etc) it’s working great! Granted, there are days when I wish I had a video monitor … [Read more...]

The Beginning of the End Table {Using VINYL as a Stencil!}

Reversible End Table using VINYL as a Stencil! (Sawdust and Embryos)_thumb

Is it not a beautiful sunshiney day out today? Well at least it is here in Iowa. Everything’s all drippy and melty outside, and making me yearn for spring something fierce. I got to go out and frolic in it sans-twins this morning for a mommy-date-type-gathering that was fabulous. ALSO… it’s my Mommy’s 60th Birthday today! HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!! I’m overjoyed to introduce to you a new member to the cast of our living room. Well, I guess this item has been around for quite some time (PROPS for whoever was around long enough to remember that … [Read more...]

Sentimental Keepsakes for Babies First Year

Sentimental Keepsakes for Baby's First Year {Sawdust and Embryos}_thumb[2]

I just might be sentimental to a fault, but it’s just part of who I am. I love to document everything, keep items that are meaningful, and do so in the most organized way possible. Compulsive organizing might be a fault of mine too. I may need to see a therapist. Looking back over the girls’ first year, I’m SO glad I took the time each week to take their pictures in the orange chair. I still love to go back and flip through them to see how much they changed in such a short time. I had them printed and put in little albums, one for each … [Read more...]

A common question I get as a twin mama is “do they have their own clothes?” or “how do you decide who wears what?” The answer to the first question is: No, they share all their clothing. The answer to the second question gets a little tricky. Mainly because, sometimes one is going through a chubby stage and might be a little tight in a specific outfit… so I’ll put it on the other girl. Or, since Delly has longer legs, there are pants that are just for her, and shorter pants for Paisley. But if we’re going out in public, or taking … [Read more...]

Once upon a time, I took over a hundred pics of my tiny babies in one ‘orange chair’ sitting, because they were just that stinkin’ cute and… sat still. Times have changed my friends. I’m totally spent. I just took well over a hundred pictures again, only in almost every shot, they’re like a pack of wild rabid coyotes. I uploaded some of our ‘outtakes’ to Flickr so you can all go take a gander at the crazies in action. Click here for that. Comment on your favorite… I did! Or better yet, add a caption! This could be fun! While you’re doing … [Read more...]

Guessssssssssssssss what! Today’s the first Friday of the month! And that means the chickies get to have their monthly picture taken! They’re no stranger to this practice, and we’ve all been totally missing the tradition. Sweet little girls, I about can’t stand it. After taking today’s picture, I was sitting on the floor with the laptop cropping and editing the photo, and the girls sat on either side of me, fascinated, and pointing at the picture of themselves. This is the first time I think they really recognized that it’s a picture of … [Read more...]

Paisley and Adelyn’s First Birthday Party

I probably should discuss the fact that we had a wonderfully successful and super cute Birthday Party for my little chickies. We almost didn’t have one, because it’s not like they’ll remember it or anything. But my friend Nicole pleaded with me that it will be so fun and adorable. And she’s very persuasive! I LOVE to entertain, but party planning? It makes me break out in hives. I get really anxious with all the little details to remember and have in place. And when you live 30 minutes from civilization, you need to have your ducks in a row. … [Read more...]

Beginning a New Chapter

I’m sort of distraught… sitting here trying to think of what to write. I just can’t believe this is the last of our weekly pictures. I can’t believe they’re going to be 1 this weekend. I feel like I’m writing a eulogy, because these pictures have been a staple of our week; something to look forward to (and sometimes dread). Looking at the early weeks of their lives, it seems like a lifetime ago… like I barely remember those little wrinkly, red, peach-fuzz-covered faces. And yet it seems like just yesterday I was sitting in the hospital, … [Read more...]
