Hey everyone! My name is Meghan and I am so excited to be here at Sawdust and Embryos!

The recipe I have to share today is one of my favorite fall recipes. Apple Crisp! I am a big fan of crisps over cobblers. I love the sweet crunchy top and the soft, sweet, cinnamony apples underneath. This crisp is different because there are 2 layers of crisp. One underneath the apples and one on top of the apples. Its perfect because the crisp is my favorite part.
So we'll start with that, the crisp. First you put your oats, flour, brown sugar, baking powder, and baking soda in a large bowl and combine...
Then add your melted butter and mix...
Mix until your mixture resembles little crumbs...
Then peel your apples...
and slice them...
In a medium bowl combine your sugar, flour, cinnamon and nutmeg...
Add the apples and mix until they're all coated...
In your pan sprinkle half of the crumb topping on the bottom. Pour on your apples. Then sprinkle the rest of the crumb topping over the apples and bake at 350 degrees for an hour. It will come out all warm, gooey, and delicious!
Its not worth waiting for it to cool. As soon as it comes out you should have some with vanilla ice cream, only so I don't feel so bad cause I may have had some for dinner...

ReplyDeleteYou can't get apples from the grocery store this time of year! If you haven't discovered apple berry farm on the edge of town, you need too! Cheap apples you can pick yourself if you want to and then I ADORE their little shop! I could totally spend hours upon hours in there!
ReplyDeleteThere's an orchard not far from our house too! I really want to take the girls and get some apples for baking! Maybe this weekend!
ReplyDeleteI have been thinking of making an apple crisp for a few weeks now. I am so glad you had her guest post with this recipe! Perfect for fall! I can't wait to try it out.
ReplyDeleteI'll have to try this recipe. Bethany that orchard is closed for the year. Last weekend when we went was the last weekend they were open :(
ReplyDeleteSo a few friends and I totally made this yesterday. It was tasty.
