With new beginnings in mind, we decided it was high time to let the girls try out some baby food! Our Dr gave us permission to start at 4 months, but with the girls being 5 weeks premature, I didn't feel comfortable pulling the trigger until they were closer to 6 months. This decision was partly for their developmental well-being, and partly for my well-being... because this milestone seems to mark a point where they're no longer little babies anymore. And that idea causes me a certain degree of distress.
But with the girls drinking a combined 72 ounces of formula each day (!!!), I figured it was high time they start having a little grain tucked in there. So on New Year's Day, Nick and I got ourselves all prepped... everything short of putting on raincoats and covering the room with plastic (think Dexter). We even remembered to record it! (sorry about the video quality at the beginning)
Funny how you don't realize your annoying baby-voice until you hear yourself on video. As you can see... Paisley needs to be put in a straight-jacket to keep her hands and bib out of her mouth. But since that day, she's really taken to the cereal and can't get enough! Our girl Dell, on the other hand, reacts this same exact way. She makes and icky face and spits it out every time. Does this mean she just isn't ready? Or should I keep trying each day until she gets used to it? So many questions! It's such a fun new stage though.
