Mary's Backsplash

Our new friend Mary (a fellow Chicago Bear's fan) ushered our vehicle right into her garage when we arrived in the midst of a torrential downpour. Her kitchen is a bright sunny yellow (I love yellow), and has a great floor plan. But the area over the sink was leaving something to be desired. Mary, bless her heart, made a valiant effort to make it less weird, but confided, 'I just want a window over my sink' ...hence the curtain:

After spending a little time in the sink, we came up with this design to remedy the weird blank wall.

I mean, it's not a window, but it seems less weird than it's previous unaltered self. I'm thinkin' Tim and Carrie started something when they pioneered their way to being the very first decorative detailed painted backsplash. But they started something good!! Mary thinks so too!  Thanks for your contribution to our baby-makin fund, Mary!! And Happy Anniversary!
