Did I say that out loud?
I baked this fun non-manly rainbow cake. The reason being... well I just really have high standards for my cake baking. It's a sickness really. To the point that on his first birthday we spent together, he never even saw his royal blue Bass Guitar cake I baked for him, because it looked pretty globby. And let's face it, I needed to impress this boy at that point. And this year, I was experiencing difficulty thinking of an awesome cake to make, and after doing some internet cake exploration, I found the recipe for this rainbow cake. It just looked too yummy not to make.
And then there were presents!!! Carefully wrapped in newspaper and masking tape. I'm not afraid to admit that my gift wrapping standards are substantially lower than that of my cake decorating skills. Most of his gifts were things he needed anyways... socks, undershirts, boxer briefs, and a brand new razor to replace the one he's been using for the last 12 years. But the best present of all? A wheelbarrow... that we'll probably return. Because it's the wrong thing. But I'll still pat myself on the back for buying something like a wheelbarrow.
